I just finished unpacking from a much needed little get-away including some wine tours. As such I started to clean my brushes and low and behold I finished my Mac Brush Cleaner. I don't understand all the ranting and raving behind this products because I found that I had to still clean my brushes afterward.
I will not be repurchasing this product as I find that baby shampoo works a ton better. I will however keep the bottle for Back 2 Mac.
What's your favourite brush cleaner?
On my synthetic brushes I use 91% alcohol as a spot cleaner and for deep cleaning I use baby shampoo. :) Good to know that I don't have to try the MAC brush cleanser.
ReplyDeleteI use alcohol based cleansers when I'm working on multiple clients, but hate using it because it dries the hairs out. MAC brush cleaner was definitely not worth the investment.
DeleteI use Dr. Bronner's Pure Castile Soap. It comes in a ton of scents (I like almond) and it is concentrated so you only need a little bit. It's super inexpensive too!
ReplyDeleteBaby shampoo huh? I'll have to try that!
ReplyDeleteI'm having a blog hop right now and you should come get in on some of that love. ;-)

It's a great cheap alternative (that's much more effective).
DeleteI'll check it out!
I dont think I've ever bought a special brush cleaner, I usually use Dove hand soap because it's really gentle but being a hand soap disinfects well too. Glad to know I'm not missing out on anything with the Mac brush cleaner, so many people seem to love it! x
ReplyDeleteI've also heard of people using dish soap mixes with olive oil but that seems expensive.
DeleteYou got it right first Natasha - I'll give you a shout out tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteGo me!

ReplyDeleteI enjoy some of their products, just not this one.
DeleteThink of a common name for a musical instrument played with a bow... it is part of the solution. Happy puzzling!
ReplyDeletebaby shampoo? Hmmm interesting. I've recently started using brushes, and am confused on what's the best way to clean them. Last time, I used this random recipe of vinegar and water off Pinterest and it did a pretty good job, but i'd like to find an alternative.
ReplyDeleteI feel like vinegar would dry out the hair. Maybe olive oil?
